Believe it or not, football season is a mere month away! NFL training camps are in full swing and exhibition games are starting. Before you know it, the leaves will be starting to turn, there will be a chill in the air, and your Sunday afternoons will be spent on that couch taking in all the action of pro football.
No matter what NFL team you root for, it’s important to outfit yourself in gear that shows your pride and passion, as well as all the tools you need to make it a great season. And since it’s still early August, you can easily find a deal on everything you need for the upcoming NFL campaign.
Here are five “must-haves” for any football fan in 2009:
Jerseys –you don’t need to spend a fortune on a jersey. Reebok offers replica versions of the real thing that look great and won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Better yet, you can buy most of them personalized in advance, so you don’t have to spend extra to put that favorite player’s name and number on the back. Hint: buy smaller, these things can run huge!
Hats–we recommend picking up two hats this year. One, a baseball-style cap, that you can wear around the house and during warmer weather. The other, a knit ski-type cap, that will keep you toasty when the weather gets colder. Both are relatively inexpensive and the selection and styles available are mind boggling!
Gear for Her–don’t be greedy! Spend a little cash on your significant other so she looks great for the NFL season too. The league and its merchandisers have really expanded women’s products the last few years, so you’ll have your pick of items. We did a simple search for “NFL Womens” on one comparison site and look at all the results we found!
Televisions–ok so you haven’t upgraded to a flat-screen TV yet. Is there any better time to do so than the eve of football season? NO! Look, we found a ton of plasma and LCD hi-def TVs for under $800! That works out to roughly $50 per game of the regular season. Make sure you do your research on flat-screens before buying and check those customer reviews for any model that catches your eye.
Tailgate Supplies–nothing beats getting to a stadium early, grilling up some treats and enjoying some drinks with friends before the big game. The best grills for tailgates are obviously hibachis—they heat up fast, they’re versatile and incredibly portable. Grab yourself a cooler to keep your meats and drinks on ice and personalize your outdoor cooking experience with one of these NFL team BBQ tool sets, complete with tongs, spatula and brush.
